Let’s talk about Kwanza Jones. Why? Because if you’re reading this, you probably want to know more. We recently caught up with her before she went rock climbing in Utah.

Is she more than just beautiful? Definitely. Most who know her say she’s powerful and bold. She’s a former beauty queen who has a signature look and notable name. But don’t let her pageant background fool you. She’s got style AND substance. There’s more to her than meets the eye. Here’s a hint: Kwanza is smart too. She went to the same school as Michelle Obama… yep, we’re talking about Princeton. And, she’s often compared to Tina Turner, in fact they have the same birthday.

Now, we could give you the traditional bio, like “Kwanza Jones is a singer, guitarist and songwriter who wrote her first song at age six, grew up playing violin, flute and piano, sang in a cappella groups and gospel choirs in college, and taught herself guitar while in law school…” but we won’t. Instead, let’s talk about what really matters.

Her music: the soundtrack to your life.
Her style: unforgettable.
Her energy: undeniable.

In Everything Around You, the first single off her upcoming album, Supercharged, Kwanza is not happy and she’s letting you know about it. She told us, “We’ve all gone through those ruts in life when we can’t get over something that has happened. Whether it’s breaking up with your boyfriend, a heated argument with your parents or a bad day at work, sometimes it’s hard to move forward. But you can’t stay sad, frustrated or mad forever. It’s a waste of time. It’s simple, if you’re not happy, say something or do something about it.”

Kwanza Jones has no problem speaking out. She’s a young woman who defines herself on her own terms. She knows what she wants and isn’t afraid to take charge. She says, “I don’t want to sound too harsh… but, I call it as I see it. You have to be confident and you have to love yourself. You can’t expect love or work or opportunities or happiness to find you. You have to love yourself enough to go out and make things happen.”

Well, we love Kwanza Jones! And we love her music, too!

Whether it’s her sound, her style or her outlook, Kwanza makes her own way. She knows what she wants and she works hard to get it. She even had a hand in producing and directing the video for her song, Everything Around You. So check it out if you haven’t seen it yet. Let her tell it though and she’ll say “it’s all about the team.” That’s why we love Kwanza Jones, she’s not one of those self-absorbed artist types. She’s accessible, relatable and genuinely great at bringing out the best in others through her music.
