how to be of service

Here’s why you don’t need money to be of service

Hey Love,

When you think about “how to be of service,” what comes to mind? Remember, being of service isn’t all about giving money. You may be of service by showing gratitude or by simply being kind to someone. The key is to make sure you always bring YOU to every conversation when connecting with others. How do you do that? Listen to this:

Your words should always be used to uplift others and not to tear down, so it’s important to think before you speak. That’s why I use my voice as a catalyst for positive change and I make it my mission to be a force for good. The actions I take, the words I speak, and even the Kwanza Jones Chronicles, are all tools that I use to achieve this. So, as you read through this month’s highlights, you’ll discover more ways I use my voice. Let’s get into it.

  • As many of you know, HBCUs are part of my story and I am committed to ensuring that they are here for the long-term. That’s why, in September, I joined Representative Alma S. Adams (NC) at the Congressional Black Caucus HBCU BRAINTRUST panel “Igniting Our Path for Sustainability: Philanthropic, Business, and Government Leadership in HBCU Engagement.” I was very pleased to share a new Jones•Feliciano initiative to advance HBCUs that will kick-off in 2024. #staytuned
  • This month I’m celebrating and highlighting Kaszek, a Latin America-focused venture capital firm. The firm is positively impacting Latin America’s economic landscape by partnering with exceptional entrepreneurs “to create the next generation of great, successful and sustainable companies” in the region. As we expand our impact globally, I am excited to partner with Kaszek.
  • September marked the end of summer for a lot of people, but for me, summer is more than just a time of year; it’s a feeling, a state of mind. Last month, my team and I released a new collection of tracks titled, “Summer Forever (The Remixes).” They are new takes to my original track, “Summer Forever” which was released back in 2017. If you listen to the message in the song, you’ll understand that you can make everyday feel like summer by enjoying every moment and living your best life all year round.

  • Education is for everyone, regardless of your ethnicity or socioeconomic status. Unfortunately, the pandemic widened the opportunity gap for students from low income families and under-served communities. Since 2020, my partners and I have come together to provide support through LA Tech Cares in an effort to bridge the gap. This year, we are working with LA-Tech.org who work to create long-term impact by supporting under-served students breaking into the tech industry. This will create a brighter future for low-income communities across Los Angeles. If you’d like to make a difference or learn more, check out the LA Tech Cares website.

With all that being said, 2023 is 75% complete. It’s time to move into high gear to finish on a high note. I often say that my year ends in October, given the holiday season can be disruptive for scheduling. Reminds me of my track and field days. Whenever I raced I would keep the mindset, “you don’t stop at the finish line. Instead, you run through the finish line. And if you need a boost, ask a friend!”

That’s why I created the Kwanza Jones Boost Friends™ Community. It’s a space where we create shared experiences so we can connect casually, create bonds, and grow continuously. I connect energy with action through weekly boosts, accountability check-ins, and so much more! If you’re already a member, sign in, or go here to learn more and apply to become a member.

Who loves you? I do!

Bye for now,

Upcoming: Next month is Thanksgiving, and as you may know, I always operate from a place of gratitude. So, I’ll leave you with this question: what are some things you are grateful for, and why is it important to be grateful? Stay tuned for the next Kwanza Jones Chronicles as I dive into just that.
