how to succeed

Pssst…here’s a little tip

Do you know how amazing you are? Think about it. There is no one out there like you. You are capable of doing amazing things as long as you take action. But sometimes, we wait for things to be perfect.

Here’s the thing, if you wait for perfection, you’ll never get things done. You have to start from somewhere. The key to success is taking action. Here’s a quick boost for you:

For this Kwanza Jones Chronicles, here are some highlights I’m excited to share with you:

  • We know that education powers possibilities. I’m thrilled that the Kwanza Jones & José E. Feliciano Initiative is an underwriting sponsor of the Oliver Scholars Gala, taking place on October 25th. This annual event raises funds for education, advocacy, and support services for gifted Black and Latinx students in New York City, preparing them for success at top independent schools and prestigious colleges. I am beyond impressed by Oliver Scholars and alumni, and am proud to support this amazing organization.
Special congratulations to Alex Doñé, Managing Director at Platinum Equity, and Trustee and alumnus Keith Canton ’93, Managing Director at JPMorgan Chase for receiving this year’s Champions of Excellence Award. We celebrate Alex and Keith as they are recognized with this well-deserved honor and applaud them for their continued commitment to equity in education.
  • We only have 2 months left before the end of the year. You may be feeling overwhelmed, but that’s okay. It just means you’re human. Sometimes all you need is that extra BOOST to help you get to the finish line. I’ve got you! Check out this high energy music boost.
  • Everyone has dreams. I’m talking about dreams that move you to take on a new challenge or push you beyond your comfort zone. The ones that might even scare you a bit because you don’t know how to achieve them but you persevere anyway. How do you achieve such a dream? You stretch yourself beyond the limits of your comfort zone. Listen to this.
  • In order to be successful, you need to define what success means to you. To be able to define that, you need to first understand what it is that you truly want. Not what others want for you. Recently, my team wrote an article on how to listen to yourself. If you’re able to tune in with yourself, you will have a deeper understanding of what you want and be able to act on it with confidence.

Success does not happen overnight. In order to go from where you are to where you want to be, you have to take action. It can be as simple as throwing something on your calendar or setting a reminder on your phone. It’s the small consistent work that often leads to big wins.

No path will be the same when striving for your goals. The end result will always depend on whether you took the action or not.

We recently discussed the power of making moves and playing chess, not checkers in the  Kwanza Jones Boost Friends™ Community. Similar to the game of chess, moving according to your distinct abilities is how you’ll overcome every challenge.

Bye for now,

Upcoming: I use videos as my canvas to create art for social change. That’s why my team and I have been working on a video that I would love to share with you soon. 2022 has been a year of holding on. More now than ever, we need to hold on to the power of possibility.  It is my hope that you will be inspired to make a difference and know that we can all come together and be united.
