how to make a change in the world

Your actions today can create a better future

Hey love,

Have you ever wondered what the world could become if each of us did our part daily to make life better for everyone? Imagine a world where kindness, respect, and service are not just ideals but a way of life. Change begins with you. Even if others take a different path, doing your part can inspire and shift the world forward, one small step at a time.

Each day brings a new opportunity to take intentional actions that move us closer to that vision. It might be how you present yourself, the small ways you show kindness, or how you choose to use your voice. Here’s an example.👇

These consistent, purposeful actions build momentum, creating a ripple effect that leads to big changes. If you do your part, and I do mine, together, each of our “parts” can become a collective that grows into something transformative.

That’s why I’m here. That’s why I share these Kwanza Jones Chronicles. This month’s highlights show how I do my part by using intention and action to create impact. Ready? Let’s go!

  • A few weeks ago, José and I attended the 2024 Academy Museum Gala, an event referred to as the “Met Gala of Los Angeles,” which brings together some of the biggest names in Hollywood. For me, it was more than just a showcase of fashion and celebrities. The story of the legendary Rita Moreno, one of the event’s honorees, left me inspired and boosted. My Teamily created an article that shares insights on how I combined intention with fashion to make a statement and create an impact. Read it here.
  • We all have someone who looks up to us. When you do your part it can become a source of inspiration to that person. In some ways, this makes you a leader. Sometimes, doing your part is as simple as showing up with intention and integrity, knowing that others may follow suit. In a recent blog post, my Teamily explored the topic of leading by example, and how each of us, through our own actions, can spark change in others. Check it out here.

  • Beyond inspiration, doing your part with intention has the potential to spark change in others. And there’s one person whose life proves this without a doubt. Earlier this month, I performed John Lennon’s “Imagine” at the Cardozo School of Law: Peace Gala honoring our dearest Professor Lela P. Love, Founding Director of the Kukin Program for Conflict Resolution. She’s a person who has shaped not only my life but the lives of countless others. She was a guide who showed how powerful it can be when you use your skills and talents for the good of others.
  • You’ve probably heard me say this a lot, “No one ever succeeds alone…” and that’s even more true when building a better future. We all need a boost sometimes. That’s why I spoke about the power of partnerships and collaboration during a recent interview on the Bloomberg Intelligence Radio Show earlier this month. You can watch a portion of my interview with Julia Caperton on YouTube or listen to the full version on Bloomberg’s website (Helpful Tip: we start at the 45th minute mark 😉).

Remember, you’re not alone. When we come together as a collective force, we amplify our power to create and spark meaningful change.

Upcoming: Can you believe we’re nearing the end of 2024? It’s been a long year filled with challenges and success. But through it all, we are still here, together. That’s the strength and resilience of humanity. If we can get back in tune with that, we can find unity. Stay tuned for the next Kwanza Jones Chronicles as we discuss what comes next!
