8 Inspiring Ways Our Mothers Help Us Build Confidence

By Kwanza Jones

build confidence

Hey Queen.

It’s about that time of the year again where we celebrate the first people who really taught us how to make Queen Moves. Our very own Queens...our Mothers.

What are Queen Moves? It's when you uplift other Queens, know your worth, value and always walk into a room as if there’s a crown on your head.

Mothers constantly go the extra mile for us and even though it seems impossible to fully return the favor, we can always do our best to show them we care.

This Mother’s Day, boost your mom, yourself, or another Queen you know with my Mother’s Day Queen Moves Only Bundle from the Kwanza Jones Shop.

Celebrate All Mothers - Queen Moves Only Bundle

I am a Queen raised by Queens.

Mothers raise Queens, they raise Kings and they raise the world.

They elevate everything.

They’re the ultimate igniters of love, learning and leading.

A mother’s love is a force of nature.

They’re the blueprint for many of the things we do.

A mother’s confidence never goes unnoticed. It can always be felt even at an age where we don’t really understand what confidence means.

If it wasn’t for my mom being the strong, powerful, and inspiring woman that she is, I don’t know who I’d be today.

There are many lessons on confidence that we can learn from our mothers and mother figures.

Here are 8 ways Confident Queen Moms raise Confident Queen Daughters:

1. Mothers Teach Us to Use Our Voice

We may not always love it when our moms use their voice (as their kids we can be freakin’ stubborn, right?), but mothers confidently speak up when they feel strongly about things.

And you should too!

Confidence is about being vocal with the things you believe in and not letting anyone’s opinions or fear of being perceived a certain way stop you.

If something bothers you, speak up about it.

Things will never get resolved if you keep sweeping things under the rug.

2. Mothers Love Us in Spite of Our Flaws

Some days when I’m not feeling like my best self (I’m sure you know how it goes on those bleh days), I can always count on a quick chat with my mommy to boost my mood.

Knowing that I am loved no matter what is one of the most POWERFUL feelings!

So why not show the same unconditional love to yourself?

Confidence means loving yourself in spite of every flaw, because who deserves all the love in the world?

YOU DO.

3. Mothers Encourage What’s Best for Us

Have you ever heard the term, Mothers know best?

Sometimes mothers can get pretty involved in everything that we’re doing, but they really just want the best for us so that we can keep thriving and winning.

My mom always keeps it REAL with me!

Because of this, I’m able to let go of the things I know aren’t good for me or the people who don’t treat me well.

It’s that simple.

Whatever doesn’t serve you doesn’t have a place in your life.

You know you best, you know you always; and you deserve all of the good things life has to offer.

And would a confident, self-assured Queen tolerate anything less than deserved?

4. Mothers Teach Us to OWN Our Power

Mothers never shy away from fiercely OWNING their power and laying down the law.

They allow what feels right and cut off anything that doesn’t sit well with them.

They understand that people will only do what you allow.

Confidence means being secure in your decisions and following your own path.

So give yourself the freedom to express yourself and be who you are.

5. Mothers Teach Us to Lead Like Queens

A Confident Queen is someone who is bold enough to lead others.

It takes a lot of courage to carry an entire team.

Moms carry families like teams all the time, whether big or small. You definitely need a lot of confidence in yourself for others to believe in your ability to lead.

Queens don’t only lead, they also uplift others, the way our Mothers uplift us.

Queens lift other Queens!

6. Mothers Teach Us Strength, Bravery & Resilience

Motherhood is no walk in the park. It comes with many, many obstacles.

Being confident in yourself means knowing that you can take that sh*t on and show it who’s boss...just like moms do every single day.

It feels empowering to see your mom conquer any situation, and if that’s not something to strive for then I don’t know what is!

7. Mothers Teach Us to Be Compassionate Queens

A little compassion goes a long way and no one knows more compassion like mothers.

Being confident means leaving a powerful impression on the world.

There’s nothing more beautiful than being an intentional queen with a good heart.

Queens care. So remember to have the same compassion for others.

8. Mothers Encourage Us to Invest in Ourselves

I’ve always seen my mom take good care of herself.

She makes sure to look her best and be well put together.

This definitely plays a big role in building confidence because when you look your best, you feel your best too!

If you don’t feel like your best self, then it’s time for you to put a little more energy into you.

As you can see, mothers are lifelong teachers. The tools that they give us empower us to boost ourselves, and the world.

Happy Mother’s Day to all mama bears and those mama bears who care for others as if they were mothers. All those who help teach, raise, guide, mentor, care, support, encourage and love.

Who loves you? I do!

Bye for now.
