Words matter. That’s why I created the SUPERCHARGED statement. It keeps me inspired, focused, and boosted.

When challenges come your way, staying strong means finding ways to keep yourself motivated. It’s not just about waiting for the right moment or relying on someone else, it’s about stepping up in your own way and making the moves that keep you going. That’s where intention comes in.

Being intentional about your choices creates momentum. It turns thoughts into action and action into impact. When you combine intention with action, that’s when real change happens. That’s how you build something better—stronger.

And that’s the focus of this edition of the Kwanza Jones Chronicles. It’s about building better. Let’s get into the highlights.

• Building isn’t just about what you create. It’s about how you do it and who you do it with. When you show up, speak out, and take action, you lay the foundation for something bigger than yourself. Every move you make, every connection you foster, every time you use your voice with intention, you’re building. José and I talked about this during a fireside chat with Dr. Michael Eric Dyson at My Dream Summit in 2023. It was a transformative event designed to empower individuals to pursue their aspirations and realize their full potential.

• When we look at the work required to rebuild the Los Angeles community after the wildfires in January, it’s not just about what can be done now to solve the immediate crisis. It’s about what we can continue to do to create long-term impact. In my Year in Review 2024 video which was released last December, I said that my word for 2025 is “build.” And today, there’s no better word to describe what comes next than that. • Building requires intention and action. It also requires the right resources to fuel it. That’s why I want to highlight CRE Venture Capital. They partner with visionary entrepreneurs building category-defining tech companies in Africa. Their work is critical in building stronger, more sustainable economies and opening doors for innovators who might otherwise be overlooked. 

• I always say, “No one succeeds alone. Sometimes you need a boost.” Intentionally surrounding yourself with strong, supportive people can amplify your efforts and results. A few years ago, I released “We Buildin’ (Reggaeton Mix)” to celebrate the power of collective action and positive change. Fun fact: This song was released around the same time as the dedication of the two new dormitories at Princeton University, named after myself and José – an historic milestone and the beginning of a legacy he and I want to leave behind. But what has been even more heartfelt are the messages from people sharing how much these dorms have positively impacted them. It’s amazing what you can achieve when you build with others.

Rebuilding doesn’t happen overnight. It takes intentional choices and consistent action. It’s not easy, but it’s possible when we come together. When everyone steps up, we lay the foundation for something stronger.
