how to overcome fomo

Don’t let FOMO distract you from your vision

Do you often feel like doing something just because others are doing it? Does it make you feel like you’ll miss out on an important opportunity if you don’t do it? It’s called, “Fear Of Missing Out (a.k.a. FOMO),” and it can cause you to do things out of fear or pressure. The problem with this is that it distracts you from focusing on the things that truly matter to you.

Here’s the thing…There are many ways to achieve success, but it cannot be done without aligning your actions with your vision. In order to build a successful life, you have to take action, coupled with inspiration, purpose, intention, and strategy. The first step to accomplishing this is to figure out what you want. Listen to this to learn how:

My actions are always aligned with my vision and passion. I’m intentional about each action that I take because it’s important to achieving success. So, for this Kwanza Jones Chronicles, I’m excited to share with you some of my passions:

  • When I invest, it’s not just about the financial boost, it’s about the lasting impact. That’s the kind of impact that Monarch Collective is making in the sports industry. They are an investment fund exclusively focused on investing in women’s sports. Through their work, they are accelerating equity in global sport. I’m excited about what comes next as we continue to build an equitable future for all.
  • I have been very vocal this past year about the implications of overturning Roe V Wade. I use my platform and resources to amplify and uplift voices that must be heard. I also roll up my sleeves and do the work. Recently, Sylvia Ghazarian, Executive Director of  WRRAP, and I co-authored an article about the impact of this decision on all women, especially Black women. We must continue to take action. The impact investment that I made with WRRAP last year contributed to the services that were provided to over 6,000 low-income women facing an unsupportable pregnancy. There’s still more work to be done. I will continue to support organizations that create access and ensure equity every day.
  • Life is about constantly investing your energy and directing your focus on the things that matter most to you. That’s how you build a happier and better you, a better life, and a better world. It’s what I call living that #SUPERCHARGEDlife. My team and I have recently released two new singles, “Supercharged Life (Sunrise Edition)” and “Supercharged Life (Sunset Edition),” to provide the confidence boost for you to live your life to the fullest.

  • The decision by SCOTUS to overturn Affirmative Action on June 29 left me disappointed and dismayed. I knew it was coming but it still hit me hard. Jones•Feliciano is powered by the principles of Equity, Education, and Empowerment and we strive to create opportunity for ALL on a daily basis. We have provided support for organizations that advance these principles on a national and international level and will continue to do so.

Remember, it’s important to listen to yourself and understand what matters to you. The fact is, once you do this, you’ll be able to define what you want, and that will help you to focus your energy on building the future that you desire – #WeBuildin.
