mid year reset

How to REFOCUS and conquer your goals: a mid-year reset

Are you aware of the incredible power you have within you? I’m talking about the power to be your best self. The power to boost your life and live your purpose. Every day is a new opportunity to do just that. Do you know how exciting that is? No one can make you think anything you don’t want to think. No one can make you feel anything you don’t want to feel. You have the power to live the way you want. That, to me, is energy igniting, and sensory exciting!

Own that power, live in your truth and live your life to the fullest. One of the ways to do this is by connecting with yourself and speaking your truth. Sometimes, this requires courage, because your truth may be different from other people’s truth. So, how can you find that courage and build confidence? Listen to this:

I am SUPERCHARGED®, and you are too! That means you have more than enough power to boost your life for the better and bring others along with you. That’s why I constantly share things that will boost you to be better in my Kwanza Jones Chronicles. For this month, here are the highlights.

  • To mark the conclusion of Women’s History Month, I hosted the first Boost Friends™ Community event of 2023 with a dear friend of mine, Anita Ortiz, founder of LAinclusionista®. The event was titled, “We Belong: A Fireside Chat about Women and Equity.” We explored the importance of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging, focusing on women and our collective power to make change. It was engaging, inspiring, and powerful. Watch the event recap in the Kwanza Jones Boost Friends Community. If you’re already a member all you have to do is sign in, or go here to learn more!
  • What are you building? A better life, a better career, a better world? Like I always say, “No one succeeds alone. Sometimes you need a boost.” That means, having people who support you will help to boost your efforts and results. I recently released a new song titled, “We Buildin’ (Reggaeton Mix).” It’s a new take on my original track, “We Buildin’,” which celebrates the power of collective action. The song was inspired by my philanthropic work at my alma mater, Princeton University. What made it all the more special is that I didn’t do it alone. I had José, my partner in business and life, I had friends, I had teachers and coaches, and I had family members. Together, we built a life and a legacy that shows the power of possibilities. Alone, you can go fast, but together, you can go far.

  • Greatness and growth comes from asking hard questions to finding better solutions. Los Angeles has challenges that require innovative, courageous, and COLLABORATIVE solutions. I had the pleasure of being a part of this year’s panel at The Giving List Los Angeles. I joined powerhouse women including Sharon Nazarian, Erika Beck, Antonia Hernández, and Renata Simril, to discuss some of the most pressing issues in Los Angeles. I welcome any opportunity for a real conversation with other catalysts and change makers. Individually and collectively, we can be the difference-makers and boost humanity together.
  • Last month, José and I were honored with the 2023 Impact Award from The Independent School Alliance. Their mission is to empower children of exceptional talent and potential from racially underrepresented and economically underserved communities in order to transform independent schools and society. These children receive a quality education while giving back to their schools in many ways, including bringing diverse perspectives and experiences that help expand the outlooks of their fellow students. José and I are truly humbled and will continue to boost our communities and the world with every opportunity we have.

We all have goals and plans but sometimes, life happens. The moment you feel things are overwhelming, take a step back and breathe. The overwhelming feeling you’re experiencing is part of your body’s fight or flight response. It’s what contributes to the physical aspects of anxiety. As you stop to reflect on the moment, take a deep breath, and relax. Clear your mind and focus on one thing. Once you’re clear on what that is, take action, then move on to the next. Take it one step at a time. And if you need someone to help you find your focus or stay accountable, ask a Boost Friend! At the end of the day, we are human and it’s ok to ask for help.

Who loves you? I do!

Bye for now,

Upcoming:  Have you ever had the fear of missing out (a.k.a. “FOMO”)? It stems from feeling like there’s something you should be doing because others are doing it, or something you should own because others have it. However, many times you may find that it’s not actually what you truly want, but you feel pressured to do it or have it because of what others may think. Stick around for the next Kwanza Jones Chronicles as I’ll be sharing some tips on how to deal with FOMO.
