Visionary Leader, Acclaimed Artist, & SUPERCHARGED® CEO, Kwanza Jones, Empowers Girls Inc. On The International Day of the Girl
News . October 30, 2023
Visionary leader and acclaimed artist, Kwanza Jones celebrated the International Day of the Girl at the Women’s Leadership Breakfast held by Girls Inc. Los Angeles, on October 11th, 2023. Jones empowered Girls Inc. with both a financial boost as one of the lead sponsors, and a motivational boost as one of the panelists at the event.
The panel also featured prominent women leaders such as Hillary Super (CEO of Savage X Fenty), Nichol Whiteman (CEO of LA Dodgers Foundation), Jesse Draper (General Partner, Halogen Ventures), Christy Haubegger (Former EVP of Communications and Chief Inclusion Officer, WarnerMedia), and Caroline Styne (President and Wine Director, The Lucques Group), with Melissa Magsaysay (Journalist/Author and Co-Founder, Duster) as the moderator.
Jones encouraged girls to embrace their power, be confident, and make Queen Moves Only. For Jones, “Making Queen Moves Only is about being the boss of the things that matter to you. It’s about taking action with inspiration, purpose, intention, and strategy.”
In addition to Kwanza Jones’ sponsorship of the event through the Kwanza Jones & José E. Feliciano Initiative, brands like OLAPLEX, thirteen lune, and Free People were also lead sponsors of the Women’s Leadership Breakfast.
Jones has been a long-time supporter of Girls Inc. She connected with them when she first noticed that their vision to inspire all girls to be strong, smart, and bold aligns with her personal statement. In 2019, Jones gave Girls Inc. a movement boost by leading them in a confidence-boosting session that was focused on the importance of physical fitness.
At the event, Jones concluded her speech with a few words extracted from the lyrics of her song, “Queen Moves Only, Mother’s Day Mix.”
”Tell me what it means, what it means to be a Queen. Mama said that I could rule by myself or with a team. It’s more than female power, more than yours or mine, it’s ours. It’s that confidence, that strength, starting love and stopping hate,” said Jones.
She continued to say, “It’s that instinct in your gut. When you feel it then you know it. It’s that pride that you’ve got. It’s the need to go and show it. It’s the truth when it’s hard, it’s that lighter in the dark. It’s the moment when you own it. When you should just fall apart. That’s what it means to make queen moves only. That’s what it means for what Girls Inc. does.” “I think we have so much to take home today. I hope you all make queen moves and I think we’re all inspired to do so,” said Melissa Magsaysay as she concluded the panel section of the event.
