Declutter Your Life in 3 Simple Steps
By Team Kwanza Jones
Material possessions = happiness… right? The more stuff, the better?
The funny thing is, it actually doesn’t matter how you answer this question on paper. It matters more how you physically live out this principle each and every day. Like…
Are all your cabinets stuffed to the max? Are you constantly running out of closet space? Then subconsciously, you might have bought into the media’s narrative that retail therapy is actually healing. But science has shown time and time again that it’s NOT TRUE!
Think about it this way... Ever been in a rush and can't find your keys because they're buried somewhere in your junk drawer? Ever had the perfect outfit in mind for an event, but can't find it because it's lost behind all the other clothes that you supposedly "needed?"
You see, if we all have common experiential proof that physical stuff does get in the way of our peace of mind - then how can it possibly equal happiness?
So, let's turn this common misconception that " stuff = happiness " on its head with some #RealTalk about why decluttering matters, and how you can start decluttering today. Because if you don’t start to control your stuff – it’ll start to control you!
Kwanza's 3 Favorite Tips to Declutter Your Life
1. Make GOOD Use of Space
The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up didn't become a best-selling book and Netflix series for no reason - the Japanese KonMari method of organization just makes sense! ALL items in your home should have an assigned home, be clearly visible, and easily accessible.
Invest in some clear organizational bins and labels. Challenge yourself to see your living space differently. These changes may seem small, but trust us - they can make ALL the difference.
A closet doesn't just have to be a pole with a mess of hangers. You can add some hooks so that every item will have its own assigned home.
Your junk drawer doesn't just have to be an explosion of items. Get some small containers and give each item its own designated space.
The more physically organized your space is, the more peace of mind you'll have. Not just because things are easier to find, but because you'll cut down on time spent searching, stressing, and sweating trying to figure out where your stuff is. And guess what, less time stressing means more time for you! #DeclutterYourLife for the win!
2. Make Time for YOU
Let’s get something straight right off the bat with this decluttering tip. When we say "make time for you", that doesn't necessarily mean a week-long vacation in the Caribbean or a full getaway spa weekend.
Time for you can mean that, instead of frantically searching for your wallet five minutes before you leave for work, you can sit and take ten deep cleansing breaths.
Time for you can mean that, instead of haphazardly answering emails every second of the day - you dedicate one full hour block daily to that task, and spend those newfound little pockets of time to journal your thoughts or say positive affirmations.
Remember - the only person you're ever in competition with is who you were yesterday. So take a little time each day to boost yourself up, so that you have the mental and emotional capacity to be able to boost others up too!
3. Organize your LIFE
Whatever is visible to you, is your priority, like it or not.
So if, when you open your cupboard, all you see on the most accessible shelf is candy and potato chips - OOPS we just outed your whole "diet plan!"
It's like this, we must make our priorities CLEAR, VISIBLE, and ACCESSIBLE to make them a reality.
And as always, this isn't just something we preach, it's something we practice too.

Harvard Business School said it all when they published these crazy stats:
"83% of the population do not have goals; 14% have a plan in mind, but goals are unwritten; and 3% have goals written down. The study found that the 14% who have goals are 10 times more successful than those without goals. The 3% with written goals are three times more successful than the 14% with unwritten goals. Writing your goals down sets you up to be exponentially more successful."
So are you ready to be the 3%? We thought so!
Grab our SUPERCHARGED Billionaire Blueprint here to get started - so you can declutter your life and commit to your priorities once and for all!
Until next time.
