The Apollo Theater, a bastion of Black music and culture and one of New York City’s most storied venues, celebrates its 90th anniversary this year.

Among the organizers of the event is entertainment mogul Jeffrey Katzenberg, a co-chair of the Biden 2024 campaign.

President Joe Biden returned to the Southland Saturday for a star-studded campaign fundraising event in downtown Los Angeles that will also featured former President Barack Obama and celebrity supporters Barbra Streisand, George Clooney and Julia Roberts.

Usher recalls his dreams of performing on “Showtime at the Apollo” while accepting the Icon Award at the venue’s 90th anniversary.

Babyface received the inaugural Legacy Award, presented by Fat Joe; and Usher received the Icon Award, presented by Apollo President and CEO Michelle Ebanks and Executive Producer Kamilah Forbes. Comedian actress Kym Whitley hosted the event.
